    • Somethign where you put information and expect that to stay forever.
    • Provides data and interface for operations that can be done on them.
  • Why is persistence important?
    • Process start and store information in memory and when thye end the data is gone
    • To survive process dying and machine shutting down and getting up
  • Data stored as files bu implementaton hiddne
  • Types
    • Relational
      • Tables with strict schem
      • Reduce duplicatoin and all kinds of queries possible
    • Document
      • One document stored as itself.
      • Tree structure
    • Column database
      • Given a key you can find the value of that in each column there is?
    • Graph databse
    • Key-Value stores
  • CAP theorem
    • You can't have all three of consistency, availability and partitian telerence
